Delegates from municipal governments and stakeholder groups heard yearly updates from SAMA's CEO and SAMA's Board Chair, as well as progress reports on our field services and technology upgrade projects. The voucher for the day included a progress report from the CEO, an update from theTowageServices Division, as well as towage updates from the Cities of Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Swift Current. Once then this year, SAMA and the Ministry of Government Relations facilitated anTowageand Taxation Training Session for local government administrators in conjunction with theYearlyMeeting. Information provided at theYearlyMeeting included a progress report from the CEO, plenary sessions discussing preliminary values for the upcoming 2017 revaluation, and an update on the Agency's technology innovations. Keynote speaker Paul Martin presented an informational session on "That FOUR letter word: Change".   The pursuit presentations and reports were on the voucher for the day:   CEO Progress ReportTowageServices Division Update Looking to the Future - Innovation and Technology That FOUR letter word: Change (Demographic and Economic Trends)     For increasingly information, please contact: Peter Ryan Communications Coordinator, SAMA (306) 924-6607       2014-2017 Funding andUpkeepPlan (February 2014)   SAMA is planning to implement an update to its upkeep and funding structure that will see changes to how the towage system in Saskatchewan is supported. This modernization will help to provide a stable financial foundation for property assessments, for the kindergarten to grade 12 education system, and for our municipal clients to pay for municipal services like police, fire, road maintenance, water, parks, recreation, libraries, and many other services.   SAMA's current revenue sources for towage services are reflected in an overall contribution split of 63:37 between the Provincial government and municipalities. This formula will be transitioned to a 60:40 split over the next two years, a phase-in period over 2014 and 2015, leveling off in 2016.   With the province's rapidly growing economy, the Agency's inspection program has met with challenges. In order to write these challenges, SAMA is undertaking a four-year wanted project for new technology. Paper-based systems and transmission data hodgepodge methods will be modernized through technological improvements to increase our level of services to our clients.
